Which roof details do you like?
Look at the panel shape, the spacing of raised lines, the edges, and the color. Point out what you like in an example and what you would change. That gives the contractor more to work with than a style name alone.
How will the color look against your house?
Ask for real manufacturer samples and view them beside your walls and trim, in sun and shade. Screen colors are useful for ideas, but the actual sample and product name are what you should use when choosing.
Do you need HOA approval, a permit, or both?
Your HOA may review appearance while the city or county handles building permits. Some properties may need additional local review. Ask which steps apply to your address; completing one does not automatically complete the others.
What should the new roof match or preserve?
Point out existing walls, trim, gutters, porches, and additions that matter to you. Ask which parts would stay and which would change. Different roof areas may need different construction details even when you want a coordinated look.
